John F. Barnes Myofascial Release Approach (JFB MFR) is a form of manual therapy that is safe, gentle and very effective. JFB MFR practitioners utilize techniques based on sustained pressure of various intensity and duration. The treatment does not follow a protocol and is never forced. It helps to reduce or eliminate pain, restores function and mobility, and activates natural healing ability of the body. JFB MFR addresses the root cause of pain and discomfort while relieving the associated symptoms and providing lasting results.
The Myofascial system is a three-dimensional web of the body’s interconnecting fascial tissue between and within organs, muscles, bones, nerves, and blood vessels. It is essential to all other body systems and functions. The Myofascial system provides support and cushioning throughout the body and gives it the flexibility, strength and stability. In order to function properly the Myofascial System needs to be unrestricted and hydrated.
Due to poor posture, inflammation, repetitive stress, physical and emotional trauma, and surgical procedures the Myofascial System gets restricted and dehydrated. Myofascial restrictions do not appear on traditional medical tests such as X-ray or MRI and often go undetected becoming a cause of dysfunction, pain and immobility, affecting not only the area where we feel symptoms but the entire body.
